This autumn the festival season for the feature film “The Bread Day” by Fresh Production was opened.

Among the first “The Bread Day” was taking to the competition program of the playing films in the Х Jubilee International Festival of the orthodox movie “Pokrov”, that take place in Kiev from 11 till 15 of October  this year.

On the recommendation of the organizing committee of the festival, “The Bread Day” came into the out-of-competition program of the International Charitable Film Festival “Radiant Angel” in Moscow. It also was joint the International Festival of the orthodox films “Radonezh”.

-       Why exactly “The Bread Day” film called the attention of the orthodox festivals?

According to Vadim Romaninko – the program director of the “Pokrov” festival: ”We were attracted by the huge potency & powerful positive massage of the film. In the final we see a true human happiness, suffered & fair. I wanted just like this for myself. This is how the film appear on the festival”.

It is Important to noticed, that for Nikola Snitsara – the script writer, it was the first dramatic work.

- Was it hard to change the usual style? There is probable a big differ in creating scripts for light, cheerful movie & serious ones. Was it difficult?

Nikolai Snitsar: Indeed, a genre is required another approaches – a conflict intensifications, obstacles complication, which the heroes are going though. A lot of the situations were creating after criminal news archives investigating. I had to search new parts of life (an old people humiliation, servitude, tradesman meanness) I was away of, as many other normal people. The heroes took a lot of time – for most of them I could relate a grandchild. For heroes trustworthy I had to study a senior’s psychology. For the matter, I have got a facility to include in script a part of the family history – a tale of the Konstantin Petrovich – was a story of my grand father. I’m happy, that problems & life of the ordinary people were reflected in audience hearts.

The aim we had while creating the film was the desire to draw the attention of the society to old people problems. It is a pity, but they became cheated very seldom. A dirty & dishonorable dealer is betraying seniors, taking the lust money & property. That is why, planning a film we hoped for public response & state structures reaction.  For our happiness, the director Maxim Meheda coped with a problem. “The Bread Day” will be demonstrating on the biggest TV channels in Ukraine – is Inter, & in Russia – is RTR & also will be represented in on three big film festivals.  I hope, we could reach out to audience hearts & to assist in solving a huge social problem.

International Festival of the Orthodox Films “Pokrov” was found in October 2003. The aim of the Festival is the popularizing films. The Festival “Pokrov” was established as an annual & holding on the eve or during the Intercession of the Mother of God. Every year on the “Pokrov” Festival the world premiers are showing. They became a classic of the Orthodox filming. The main prize of the festival is a hand painted icon of the Intercession of the Mother of God.

International charitable film festival “Luchezarnyi Angel” was one organized in 2006 year & became one of the priority projects of the goal program “Spiritual- moral culture of the growing generation”. The spiritual guardian of the film festival is St. Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Cyril. The festival is holding with the assistance of the president of the Social-Cultural Initiative, the chairman of the relieving officer of the Complex goal program “Spiritual- moral culture of the growing generation of the Russia” Svetlana Medvedeva.  Its viewers’ are in a great interest to films, oriented to the spiritual renaissance of the country, patriotism, morality, culture. The films, offered by the sorters for the film program, are expertise by the Spiritual expert council, that structured by professors & lectures of the Moscow ecclesiastical academy, Orthodox St. Tychon Humanitarian University, well known confessors. The Festival program consists of artistic meetings with the guru of the Russian cinematography, retrospective & thematic demonstrations, devoted to memorable & anniversary dates.

The International film & TV program Festival “Radonezh” is the acknowledged world leader in religious area, spiritual- moral documentary filming. The festival is holding by the blessing of the St. Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Cyril. It takes place in the Film Theatre of the Russian Federation Cinematography Union, with the assistance of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of the Connections & Mass Communications, the Federal Agency of the Cinematography, The Moscow Government, the Russian Cinematography Union, the Synodical Information Department, the Synodical department of the Church & society communication, the Patriarch Union of Culture. The “Radonezh” Festival is holding every year beginning from the 1995. Traditionally, about 200 participants of the state & NGO’s film & Broadcasting Co. from all over the world are taking part in the Festival.
