“The Bread day” is among the winners of 2012 “Pokrov” Film Festival – “The Viewer’s Sympathy” prize goes to it! “The Bread day” is also highly rated by the jury president Vladimir Khotinenko.
Fresh Production which produced “The Bread Day” donated the cash bonus to the building of the Orthodox Church in Salome village in Kirovogradskii region.
Famous Russian actor Michail Zhigalov (Moscow`s “Sovremennik” theatre) who played the main character in “The Bread Day” attended the festival as a honorable guest. He presented the film and was interviewed by the Ukrainian TV & radio companies.
According to “Pokrov” program director Vadim Romanenko…”The Bread Day”, which is actually a TV movie, became an exclusion of the Festival rules. From the very beginning of selection, the program commission was attracted by the huge potency and powerful positive massage of this film. The decision was made to include “The Bread Day” into the main program among the big screen movies.
The jury president Vladimir Khotinenko, having noticed such an unusual occurrence in the competition program, decided to watch the film on the big screen in Kiev`s “House of Cinema”. The first thing that made him surprised was that the auditorium was completely full. What happened after the show was also unexpected – the long standing applauses and the tears in some viewers` eyes. The film festival jury decided to award “The Bread Day” with the Viewers’ sympathy prize.
Anastasia Kazankova – the producer of the Russian film “Boys” – after watching the film said that she could not stay indifferent and even busted into tears: “The Viewers’ Sympathy” prize first of all is the audience’s feedback. The story penetrated their heart. I’m a witness of this. In this year festival “The Bread Day” is a film number one for me.
Iulia Chernyavskaya, the general producer of the Fresh Production: ”I thank the festival organizers, jury and the audience. Our film is based on the real facts and we are happy that people didn’t stay indifferent. The sensitivity of people’s hearts is able to create miracles and not only in the films, but also in the real life.”
Vladimir Khotinenko is a Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, People’s Artist of Russia, a member of the Patriarchal Union of Culture, the film directing teacher at All-Russian State Film Institute, the president of the jury of 2012 Pokrov International Orthodox Film Festival.
