In Ukraine in the present time there are several professional companies working in special effects field for film, advertizing, video clip, etc. production. TORNADO SFX is one of the leaders.

The company has a baggage of many projects. Among Them: full – length film “White Guard” (director Sergeii Snezhkin), “A house with a turret” (director Eva Neiman), “Once, somehow in a New Year” (director Ahtem Sietablaev), “Anna Herman” (director Valdemar Kshistek), “Sniffer” (director Artyem Litvinenko), “DAU” (director Ilya Krzhanovskii), first Ukrainian 3D-horror movie “Sinevir” (director Alexander Alyeshechkin), Russian’s clip for the song “WOW” (director Semen Gorov), Russian singer Eva’s clip “Do not keep silent” (director Semen Gorov), TV project “Wet Stars fall” (channel K1) & many special effects for preview trailers. And it is only for the lust year.

Alexander Chernyavskiy, TORNADO SFX studio founder & manager answered a few questions:

- Tornado SFX is specializing in atmospheric special effects. What unique do you suggesting in this sphere?

A.C.: The technologies we are working with are not unique. We are using equipment, like many other big studios in the world. It is guarantied high quality level & safety of the special effects. The unicity is in ideas & ways we are solving the intellectually demanding tasks. Every project is wanted for individual approach & making absolutely new equipment very often. For example, during creating the storm & the gale for Arabian film “Sail & Cross” (by the Hann Min novel “Sail & Gale”), we constructed 8 miters spillways in a pool, and after draining water (volume 1cube in 3 sec.) it was an effect of storm wave strike, covering a ship. The result was very much realistic. The film director & we were very satisfied.

- The studio made many works for the lust year. One of them is well known “White Guard”. What were your main tasks & what was the most interesting during the project.

A.C.: During the project the work was mostly with the snow. It is a profile direction of the company. The complicacy was in hot weather. We worked with artificial snow. During shooting period we used about 8 tone of snow, covered all the territory of Andrews descent, St. Sophia square & National Reserve “Pirogovo” territory. Many residence of Kiev were witnessed of that work. People came to a shooting area to make photo (in spite of winter time, there was no snow on the streets). For this time, it was the most significant work with the snow on the territory of Ukraine.

- What are you working at now & what are the TORNADO SFX studio close planes?

A.C.: At the present moment TORNADO SFX studio is working at government film of Ukraine projects. We are dial with a several film directors. This year we have a few offers from Russian side. The shooting will be in Yalta. We are in negotiating process. In a close future, we are going working with season special effects like rain, storm, fog. We are continuer working at preview & music trailers.

Тornado SFX studio is the only company in Ukraine, providing full service mix in visual special effects creating. During a shot period of time studio took a sound positions in the film making market. In 2007 studio entered into Fresh Production Group group of companies.
