Siege of Leningrad Through the Eyes of a Little Boy

At the Clearwater Film and Music Festival (USA) Igor Stetsiuk – a famous composer, brilliant musician, wonderful arranger, pianist, conductor, author of music to nearly forty films, Professor of the National Ukrainian P. Tchaikovsky Music Academy, Honored Cultural Worker of Ukraine, was awarded for the best soundtrack to the short animated cartoon «Sharfik» (the Scarf).

The cartoon «Sharfik» - a 14?minute story of the Siege of Leningrad experienced by a little boy, has already received dozens of prizes .

– What has pre-determined the soundtrack for the «Sharfik» short animated cartoon?

Igor Stetsiuk: «The soundtrack has been determined by minimalistic graphics: we haven’t heard the big orchestra music. The timbre palette is based on piano sound, chamber, intimate, a little dull tone. The warm tones of a big string group are breaking through the dark space and frozen time only at the end.

The soundtrack-lullaby was sung by a young actress Liz Skaggs, whose voice is perfectly unsophisticated, possesses certain roughness and an amazing sincerity».

Creative experience of Igor Stetsiuk includes work with directors Mikhail Belikov, Boris Nebiyeridze, Les Sanin, Stepan Koval, Viktor Prikhodko, Zaza Buadze, representatives of foreign cinematic art – Valerii Todorovskyi, Artur Brauner, as well as with the patriarch of the Italian school of directors – Mario Cotone.

The «FRESH PRODUCTION» team sincerely congratulates composer Igor Stetsiuk, our partner and friend.
