«The waltz of the «Autumn Flowers»

The music to the film composed by the famous Ukrainian musician Igor Stetsiuk has been approved: «After having read the script I realized that the film is «mine»… Its events are close to me: the Great Patriotic War, camps the heroes get into have a certain meaning to me. I do seriously percept these events in a very certain way and I would like to do this kind of work», – Stetsiuk said.

According to Stetsiuk, as all the events in the movie are real, the music should also be alive and real. «This picture requires an absolutely alive, and exquisite tune of a real orchestra», – he believes. This is why to record the music Igor Stetsiuk invited the best musicians from various orchestras of the country – National Opera Theater, State Symphony Orchestra, Folk Instrument Orchestra of the National Ukrainian Radiocompany and other well-known orchestras.

The composer had been working at the soundtrack since autumn. «Usually I compose fast, that’s why the main intonation, the principle melody appeared almost at once. But then the music must be improved, instrumented, many facts should be considered – this is what takes most of the time». Working with music for movies Igor Stetsiuk usually cooperates with the film director and communicates with the film crew – this is the way to better feel the general mood and style of the film. According to the composer, he and Akhtem Seitablayev, the director of the Autumn Flowers, had a very similar idea of the future music which has become the basis of the successful cooperation.

The main track of the «Autumn Flowers» film will be the romance Touch-Me-Not performed by the Ukrainian people’s artist Taisiya Povaliy – this is the basic theme of the main musical concept of the film. The romance verse was written by Nikolai Brovchenko. Igor Stetsiuk has been working with this poet for long, same as with Taisiya Povaliy, for whom this is the first major work in a native film. The composer informed that the current romance variant is the 11^th and it contains only two short lines from the first version, however it is these lines that call the tune.
